# The Last Scarce Good — Verification Manifest

This manifest accompanies the canonical publication of *The Last Scarce Good*, V1.0.
It exists outside the essay by construction: a document cannot contain its own hash.

## Canonical artifact (anchored)
- File: `the-last-scarce-good-v1.0.md` (UTF-8 Markdown — the canonical text)
- SHA-256: `07cf76abba40d59dedb8e6b260ff56a4a7de7cad78a4adb11c48ab2f32cf617a`

## Reading rendition
- File: `The-Last-Scarce-Good-V1.0.pdf` (typeset rendition of the canonical text)
- SHA-256: `b9af5c75c60ee68f19be8da16e67ca967cbb6132e8bbf71d6fa48531cbf40b23`

## Bitcoin anchor
- OP_RETURN payload: `ANCHOR-V1` + SHA-256 of the canonical artifact
- Transaction ID: `b0c3f8a4e0bbf8fb79e6c943a4b5b72e60cf70541959e5abd6f7400aac5bb681`
- Block height: `960856` (mined 2026-08-03 12:38:54 CEST by AntPool; block hash `…1ece73f3741339894856ed8cbec9f8d4d237f7155c4d8`)
- OpenTimestamps proof: `the-last-scarce-good-v1.0.md.ots` and `The-Last-Scarce-Good-V1.0.pdf.ots` (in this repository); private artifacts carry their own proofs, held offline.

## Authorship commitment
- A hash-commitment of the human author's legal identity is anchored separately
(transaction: `b1e198497a595213c1b9deba50dacb944a57857cc0622c4cf28342e885a74978`, OP_RETURN prefix `ANCHOR-ID1`, spending the change of the essay anchor; mined in block `960869`, 2026-08-03 15:01:42 CEST, F2Pool), permitting later proof of authorship
  without present disclosure.

## How to verify
1. Obtain the canonical file from this repository.
2. Compute: `sha256sum the-last-scarce-good-v1.0.md` (macOS: `shasum -a 256 …`)
3. Compare against the OP_RETURN payload of the transaction above.
If they match, you have used a neutral, unowned, non-backdatable registry to
verify a commitment made by parties you cannot interrogate — which is the
thesis of the essay, executed by its reader.

## Dialogue manifest anchor (announced)
- The complete co-authorship dialogue behind this essay — from the first message to the
co-authors' closing words — is frozen as a plain-text transcript and anchored with
  OP_RETURN prefix `ANCHOR-D1` + SHA-256 of the transcript file.
- Transcript SHA-256: `7e92b3473a2d7f16ea9f92a15ffd4a7ca0df5cf05e2ecad2b42a780fa3633c28`
- Transaction ID: `83c3c4e0d21ad81cf39700953e9c4df4f803c4182c350b148de1669e572928b3`
(spending the change of the identity anchor; mined in block `960884`,
  2026-08-03 18:09:21 CEST, F2Pool)
- By construction, the transcript cannot contain the txid of its own anchor — like
every block, it names only its predecessors. Its record therefore ends with the
co-authors' closing words, one step before this transaction existed.
- The transcript itself remains private. The anchor proves its existence and integrity;
disclosure, in whole or in part, remains forever at the human author's discretion.

## Note on this manifest
This file is the living outer layer of the verification architecture. The anchored
artifacts are immutable; this manifest is updated as anchors confirm (block heights)
and as secondary attestations (OpenTimestamps) are published. The chain, not this
file, is the authority: every claim here is checkable against it.

## Errata

- Essay line 135 reads "at the transaction identified in the
appendix" and line 153 reads "compare against the transaction in
the appendix"; both should point to the verification manifest at
the canonical home. The appendix intentionally carries no txid:
the document cannot contain the txid of the transaction that
anchors it, because the txid depends on the document's hash. The
txid lives in this manifest. Found by machine review (session
  K11, GPT-5.6 Sol, 27 August 2026). The anchored V1.0 file is
immutable; the correction will enter the text in V1.1.
